Coleraine
Twelfth Festival is a fun-filled, varied programme of events in the week leading up
to the 12th of July. The festival was held for the first time in 2006
and has continued to grow and is now firmly established as one of the
most popular events in the local area.
By
showcasing our culture and heritage in an enjoyable and educational way,
we hope to dispel some of the myths and misconceptions attached to the
Orange Order, and provide an opportunity for everyone to participate in
this traditional holiday period.

Sunshine
was the order of the day for Coleraine No.2 District LOL's tremendously
successful 'flagship' Twelfth in Portrush, when they were joined by
Lodges and bands from City of Londonderry Grand Orange Lodge (comprising
5 districts including Donegal), Limavady and Macosquin.
About
60,000 people lined the streets of the popular North Coast resort to
watch the colourful parade as it made it's way along the 4 mile route to
the Field at Magheraboy Road.

Coleraine Orange Hall,
situated in Union Street, will celebrate it's centenary in 2011. The
Orange Hall has played an important role in the local community having
hosted many historic occasions over the years. On Saturday 17th April 2010, the 99th anniversary
of the opening of the hall, Nelson McCausland, Minister for Culture,
Arts and Leisure opened a new Ulster Scots Resource Centre located on
the upper two floors of the hall. Coleraine District Lodge is proud that
the hall, which once housed the first 'picture house' in the town, continues
to provide a focal point for the local community and will continue to
develop the facilities available to meet the growing needs of it's
members, their families and friends. |
